Giants in our Forests

Larger mammals have always caught the attention of wildlife enthusiasts from around the world. The creation of "the big five" of Africa stands as a testament to the same and people from all over the globe travel to Africa with the hope of finding the big five. Here in India, we are truly blessed with incredible wildlife diversity and through this program, we would like to showcase some impressive species that can easily become a part of the Big Five or the Big Seven of India. This journey will give you a chance to see, observe and photograph species such as the Asiatic Elephant, One-horned Rhinoceros, Gaur, Gharial, Leopard, Sloth Bear, and the Bengal Tiger.

Arrive in Delhi. You will be received by our team at the airport and shall be transferred to your hotel. Based on your time of arrival a short city sightseeing can be organized based on your area of interest.

Overnight will be in Delhi.

The first half of the day is going to be spent traveling. Early morning you will take a flight to Lucknow, from where you shall transfer by road to Dudhwa National Park. Once rested take a nature walk in and around your lodge.

Overnight will be in Dudhwa.

Dudhwa tiger reserve comprises of three wildlife sanctuaries - Kishanpur WLS, Dudhwa WLS & Katarniaghat WLS. We have planned a day of exploration in each of the sanctuaries. We begin with Kishanpur which will be explored in open jeeps today. Amongst the three the chances of finding tigers in Kishanpur are marginally better.

Overnight will be in Dudhwa. 

This day will be dedicated to exploring Dudhwa. The park is home to Asiatic elephants and one-horned rhinoceros which will be the species that we shall be seeking out the most, besides the tiger.

Overnight will be in Dudhwa. 

Katarniaghat is further away than the other parks. Thus we shall be doing a day excursion to this park. besides the larger species mentioned before, the key species to seek out is not in the forest but in the river - The gharial crocodile - an endemic species to the subcontinent, it is a large species growing up to 15-18 feet in length. We will not only be doing a jeep safari in this forest but will also explore the river in a boat to get close to these unique giants.

Overnight will be in Dudhwa. 

Today you will return to Lucknow. The city is known for its cuisine and the food trail of Lucknow is certainly something that must not be missed. 

Overnight will be in Lucknow. 

A large part of this day is going to be spent getting to your next destination in central India - Kanha Tiger Reserve. You fly early morning to Raipur via Mumbai. Your lodge will be another 4.5hrs by road from Raipur airport. No wildlife activities are planned for this evening.

Overnight will be in Kanha. 

These two days are spent exploring Kanha Tiger Reserve. It is the oldest and largest park of Madhya Pradesh and is home to species such as the tiger, leopard, gaur, sloth bear (endemic to the subcontinent), and the hardground barasingha (endemic to the park).

Overnight will be in Kanha. 

This morning you take your last game drive in Kanha and in the afternoon move to the last wildlife destination on this itinerary - Pench Tiger Reserve. 

Overnight will be in Pench. 

Pench boasts of the highest density of prey-base in central Indian parks and is a good place to see tigers, leopards, dhole (Asiatic wild dog), and gaur to name a few.

Overnight will be in Pench. 

You take your last game drive of the trip in Pench this morning. In the afternoon you make your way to Nagpur airport from where you fly back to Delhi. In Delhi, one can connect to your international flight back home.
