Big Cats of India

India is home to about 10% of the world’s wildlife, so needless to say it is home to a huge diversity of mammals. The country today is home to 15 species of wildcats (the highest diversity of wildcats species in the world). This includes 4 of the 5 in the genus 'Panthera'. This program is designed to offer you the best opportunity to find these four species - The Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, Asiatic Lion, and the Snow Leopard. The journey takes you to three different regions of India - Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Ladakh.

Arrive in Mumbai. You will be received by our team at the airport and shall be transferred to your hotel. Based on your time of arrival a short city sightseeing can be organized based on your area of interest.

Overnight will be in Mumbai.

This morning you transfer to Mumbai airport and fly to Diu. Our team shall meet you in Diu and transfer you to Gir by road - a journey of 2.5hrs. The remainder of the evening is at leisure.

Overnight will be in Gir.

You shall be exploring Gir on these days. Most parks in India allow you two three-hour safaris on each of the days. Gir National Park is the last bastion for the Asiatic Lion. It is the only home for these majestic big cats where they can still roam wild.

Overnight will be in Gir. 

The most part to this day is spent getting from Gir to Ahmedabad. Time permitting explore Ahmedabad.

Overnight will be in Ahmedabad. 

This morning take a flight to Jaipur - the Pink City. The remainder of the morning is at leisure. This evening explore Jhalana Wildlife Sanctuary at the edge of Jaipur in search of leopards & hyenas.

Overnight will be in Jaipur. 

This morning you continue to explore Jhalana Wildlife Sanctuary. After breakfast transfer by road to Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. Begin exploring Ranthambhore this afternoon. 

Overnight will be in Ranthambhore. 

Continue exploring Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. It is one of the most popular tiger reserves of the country and besides the tiger, it is home to leopards, sloth bear (endemic species), golden jackal, striped hyena, caracal (extremely rare), freshwater crocodile, blue bull antelope, Indian gazelle, sambar deer and spotted deer to name a few.

Overnight will be in Ranthambhore. 

This morning you take your last safari in Ranthambhore tiger reserve. After an early lunch transfer to Jaipur airport by road and fly to Delhi. The remainder of the evening in Delhi is at leisure.

Overnight will be in Delhi. 

On day 11 you fly in the morning to your last destination in the itinerary - Ladakh. Since it is a high-altitude region you will need to acclimatize for these two days during which you will remain in Leh.

Overnight will be in Leh. 

These five days are spent exploring the rugged terrain of Ladakh in search of the snow leopard, Tibetan wolf, ibex, blue sheep, wooly hare, red fox, and all the other denizens that thrive in this inhospitable environment. On day 17 you make your way back to Leh and the last night will be in Leh.

Overnight will be in Ulley. 

This will be the last day of your itinerary. This morning fly back to Delhi from Leh. The remainder of the day is at leisure in Delhi. Later in the evening transfer to the international airport and catch your flight back home.
